Timing Issues

In some older browsers or on loaded systems the counter on Synanim's pages may run slower than it should. This can manifest itself if you submit before the counter reaches 00:00, but your entry does not appear in the following pick step.

If it appears that your browser is running slow, you may want to set your own timer or use a clock which you know keeps good time to ensure that you do not fall behind. It is recommended that you always submit your entries well before the counter gets close to 00:00 to ensure that they are accepted.

Javascript / Cookie Support

Synanim requires browser cookies and Javascript to be enabled to function. Without them you will be unable to enter the process successfully. In most browsers, including those below in Tested Browsers, cookies are enabled by default.

Tested Browsers

The following browsers have been tested with Synanim and are generally compatible.

Win32/PC

• Internet Explorer 6+
• Firefox 1.0+
• Netscape 6.2+

If you are running versions of these browsers that are older, you may want to consider an upgrade. Synanim may function properly with your system, but you may have issues.

AOL users should use an external browser, not the built-in browser to access Synanim.

Macintosh

• Safari 1.2+
• Firefox 1.0+
• Camino 0.8+

There are known issues with Internet Explorer for the Mac and this browser should be avoided if possible.

Most browsers should be able to manage Synanim's requirements, as they are not complex. However, browsers other than those above have not been verified. Please report other browsers that work well with the system so that we can update our list.
